GOD” begins with promise — a chilling premise, competent cast, and a technical crew that can deliver. The idea of a cop locked in a psychopathic cat-and-mouse game has all the potential to thrill. And indeed, for stretches, the mood, visuals and lead performance hold your attention.

However, as the film progresses, the novelty fades. The narrative retreats into familiar terrain: the avenging cop, the quirky villain, a victimised family, the predictable investigative beats. Instead of deepening the psychological dimension, it leans on graphic violence and standard tropes. The emotional resonance is missing; we never fully invest in the characters beyond the surface. The climax, meant to tie the knot, feels extended without adding value.

In short, it’s a technically decent outing that falls short of turning into a memorable thriller. If you’re a fan of Jayam Ravi or simply like seeing police vs serial killer stories, you may get some value. But if you’re expecting a fresh take, “GOD” won’t quite deliver.
